Our Story

Meet the Owners:

My name is Lily, you will primarily hear from me in these posts and on social media. But more often than not you will see my husband and partner, Alex, in the photos and videos. Though he is more quiet on social media, he is my right hand man. From running to fetch me towels that I forgot to grab before starting a bath, to medical supplies that I thought we had, to cuddling our puppies endlessly, this man does it all. Sage House Pups is definitely a full house hold support and interaction type of home. Your puppies are well loved here.

How we got Started:

Alex and I reconnected after high school and tied the knot five years ago. About a year after we got married I asked Alex what kind of dog he wanted, he told me ‘a dog he could actually play with, but one not so big he couldn’t cuddle them.’
I had always loved Aussies. I grew up with an Aussie mix and absolutely loved that dog. So I knew Australian Shepherds was the way to go. They are the perfect size to still cuddle with, but are very athletic, so they can keep up with the most active of people. I love how versatile they are.
I had been watching the breed for years and had a few breeders in mind, we ended up place a deposit down on a pair before the female was even in heat. We waited the months for all the magic to happen. Another female went into heat first and was breed first about the same time in the program I had chosen. I had my heart set on the other pair, but when puppies were born we were given an option to choose one of their pups. There were two black tri females available left. I originally passed up on Adi, but for 2 days straight, any time I opened Facebook, I saw her. I even started to dream about her. I went back and asked if she was still available and we were in luck. Adeline became our first dog, coming home with us in October, and we have never looked back.
I have no idea how I got lucky in picking her based off of a gut feeling, but so far it has not lead us wrong. Belle came to us in a very similar fashion. I was scrolling Facebook, again, looking for POTENTIAL, FUTURE lines to get our second female from. We were supposed to get a male next, but I guess we needed Belle first. She popped up on my page and I immediately fell in love. Belle looks identical to a pup from Adeline’s first litter, one that was placed with a family that did not end well. That was one of the harsh learning curves we have had to experience. When I asked Alex he at first said no. But about 20 minutes later he paused his game, looked at me, and said, ‘okay, how would this work if we did?’
It was by some luck that the stars aligned. She was available, the plane ticket wasn’t bad, and our schedules matched up. It is honestly crazy, and has taken me a month to fully process everything. She has been a wonderful addition to our household and I could not ask for a better second dog.
Our third dog in our program is actually one of Adeline’s puppies from her second litter. Enter in Calida. Once again we were actually looking to maybe hold back a tri female. But after looking at the litter and seeing the unique coloring of Calida, we started to entertain the idea of switching our program. We still hadn’t settled on a male and the one we were going to get the end of 2025, fell through. So it was the perfect opportunity to choose a path. Her genetic test came back with the results we were hoping for, and so in the program she stayed. We have attempted to find a Partner Home for her, because four dogs is a lot in our household, and to be honest will probably be our max compacity for a while. But I wouldn’t change this for the world. Each dog has chosen us and has added something different to our home and program, and I am here for it.
We are still on the hunt for our Male, but if you would like to read more about us and come along on the adventures, check out our social media.
