Welcome to Our Partner’s page. This is a new thing we are trying here at Sage House Pups, and I hope you bare with us as we figure out the bugs.
A lot of programs use Partner Homes, or Guardian Homes, to expand their program while also making sure each and every dog has their needs met. And again, one of our biggest goals is to make sure all our dogs are happy, healthy, and taken care of.
A Partner Home is a unique opportunity to join our company, but also get a quality dog for a fraction of the price. If you are interest in joining our program, check out the criteria listed below and see if this is the right match for you.
We currently are only looking to place females at this time, but check back in the future for updates. Please feel free to reach out with questions, opportunities, or inquires.

Must be available/willing to work with us in transporting

Our Financial responsibilities:
The program will pay for things such as
– Any vet visit related to breeding
– Genetic test if not already done
– OFAs and any other test required to ensure female is sound and not at risk for carrying puppies
– Any food during the time she is confirmed pregnant and through the whelping process
– Any additional care required during the breeding and whelping process: grooming, medical, day to day care needs, etc
– Spaying upon retiring from the program, and any care associated with the healing process.
What it looks like:
I know this is new for some people, and can seem a little strange, so let me be as transparent as possible. I am also more than happy talking things out and explaining more of what kind of home we would be looking for in the program, and what the timeline would be like. Especially with the time the female would be under our care. We do have flexibility and a case by case bases, and we are open to working with each family.
By joining the program you would be getting a puppy completely backed by the program, they are our pick of the litter. They are genetically health tested, OFAs will be done when able, and you will get a sound, well tempered dog. While we are getting the opportunity to continue to build our program and ensure all dogs are still cared for to the fullest of what they need.
Just like any of our other puppies, they will come with a contract, but in this case it is a little different. You will house and care for the dog while we retain ownership of the dog until certain criteria’s are met, listed in the contract. Full contract will be sent if requested. Once items are completed, Ownership will be transferred over to the Partner Home after a spay is completed at the expense of the program. Example of completing the contract are listed below:
Female produces a certain amount of litters, or reaches a certain age
Female does not do well with being a mom
Female has anything we decide we don’t want to breed like a genetic marker, unsound structure, or out of standard size, etc
Female has health complications with pregnancy/OFAs, or anything else that could make breeding her a greater risk
etc
Timeline:
Disclaimer, this is may vary depending on dog and the other factors.
Female goes home with Partner Home at 8 weeks and Partner Home cares for the puppy, including puppy shots and training required, for 2 years. A genetic test will either be done prior to puppy going home, or will be provided at some point in the 2 years. Results will always be shared.
At some point in the 2 years we will pay for registering the female and giving her a registered name.
It is the Partner Home’s responsibility to notify us when the puppy goes into heat, so we can track how often the cycles happen and can give you a better timeline of how our breeding schedule will go. This can have adjustments, and is only an estimate, each female is different and handles breeding, and cycles differently.
At 2 years old, we will take the female to get OFAs done. Any care needed for that procedure will happily be given by us. They do put them under for the positioning in the X-rays, and not all dogs do well with that. if 24-7 monitoring cannot be provided, we will ensure the female is taken care of.
Pending the results of the OFAs, she will then be breed at her next heat cycle.
When she goes into heat, vet visits to do progesterone tests will be needed to figure out the timing. This can be delicate, and could be complicated as to the timing, and very last minute. Options of us house during the cycle are an option to alleviate stress on scheduling.
Once ready to breed, female will stay upwards of a week with us, usually about 3-4 days. Options of transportation are available, pending scheduling and preference. After successfully bred 2-3 times the female will be returned to you.
Roughly 30-35 days after, an ultrasound will be scheduled to confirm pregnancy.
If she is not pregnant, we wait till the next cycle and repeat the process.
If she is pregnant, we will have a bag of puppy food delivered and transitioning instructions. Momma dogs need extra calories for puppies to ensure her health, but needs to be paced correctly in order to not create problems with the pregnancy. Weight will need to be monitored weekly at this point as well.
1 week before the due date and X-ray will be scheduled to get a puppy count. After this appointment, we typically will house them with us in our whelping room. Momma will then stay with us until the puppies are 5-8 weeks, depending on when they are weaned. Momma will also be sent home with a bag of food to help the transition process back to regular food and help her recover more quickly.
Any extra time with her and puppies is always welcome. We are open to sharing this experience with our Partner Homes. Your involvement is 100% up to you.
We put a lot of work into these puppies and we are looking for someone who wants to be apart of our vision of making a happier, healthier next generation. Please contact us if this sounds like a good fit for you. We may not always have a puppy available to the Partner Program, but you will be placed on the waitlist for a future puppy from one of our litters when one catches our eye.
Price for a Partner Home is listed in the Price page. A non-refundable deposit is still required to join the waitlist. If at any point you change your mind about the Partner Program, but still want a puppy, you will be shifted to our main waitlist.
We understand that not every dog is cut out for this job, and not everything goes to plan. Health and well being of the dog is and will always be top priority. If we do one litter and your female hated every minute of it, we are done. The dog will be retired and they can live a happy and fulfilled life with you. If something pops up in their genetics that we do not want to pass down to the next generation, they will not be bred. None of these outcomes will prevent you from assuming ownership of the dog after they have been fixed. This also includes if we decide to retire the female early for any reason not specified above.
Again, our goal is to keep everyone happy and healthy.
When a female retires out of our program, they will be spayed at the program’s expense.
All rules with dogs being returned to us apply especially with our Partner Program. We are here for the life of the dog no matter what. We are here to support and help you through whatever you need.
Disclaimer:
We reserve the right to refuse an application if it does not feel it is a right fit for us. We are looking for a special kind of home that believes in the future we are trying to help create.
Compensation:
There will be compensation for joining our Partner Home Program. Message us for more details, a section will be included in the contract outlining details. This includes, but is not limited to:
